1. You are allergic to the condoms you are using. Some people can have an adverse reaction to latex, spermicide, or lubricant of certain condoms. If you noticed the vaginal odor arising only when you are usually a particular type of condoms, it’s likely this is causing an allergic reaction.

2. Your clothes are too tight. When you wear tight clothes, especially ones made out of synthetic material such as acrylic, it can make it hard for your vagina to air out. This ultimately causes your vagina to sweat and increase your chances of vaginal odor.

3. Using scented soaps or body wash. Your vagina can have an adverse reaction to scented body washes and soaps due to the ingredients. Stick with unscented, gentle soaps to clean your vaginal area.

4. You are douching too much. Once in a while you may feel “icky” and want to douche to cleanse your vagina. However if you do it too often, your vagina can become dry and also mess with the pH levels of it. This will lead to the increased growth of bacteria and odor.

5. Not changing your underwear after working out. An intense does a body good, but did you know this could also cause vaginal odor? If you don’t allow your vagina to air or change your sweat soaked underwear you will experience a musky or unpleasant odor.

6. Your partner’s sperm may be the culprit. If you allow your partner to ejaculate in you, this could be a reason why you have been noticing a vaginal odor. You can ask your partner to not ejaculate in you or you can immediately clean up after sex. Take a shower and use a pH balancing vaginal wash to get levels back to normal.

7. You wear your underwear to sleep. Bedtime is a great time to let your vagina breathe. So bare it all and go to bed in the nude. If you aren’t comfortable going fully nude, at least go sans underwear.

8. Your diet may be the blame. You don’t have to be the healthiest eater, but if you have a bad diet which lacks essential nutrition or the recommended probiotic intake, your vagina may not be able to self-regulate properly.

9. You need to trim that pubic hair! You don’t have to have your vagina as smooth as a baby’s bottom but you should keep it trimmed and at a short length if you want to reduce your chances of vaginal odor. If your pubic hair is too long, it can trap odors that are more noticeable to you and your partner.
