Best Starter Tampons

So maybe you’re not new to having a regular monthly cycle, but, perhaps you’ve never used a tampon before and you’ll like to give it a go – in this particular article, I’ll get into what tampons are best for starters. In my previous tampon article, I looked into how to make tampon choices if you just got your period and I mentioned looking out for comfort, ease, cost and protection. I also leave juicy information about my own experiences as well as a few recommendations on tampons you can buy if you’re new to the period business. Feel free to check it out – lots of helpful information!

Okay, let’s get back on topic.

I’ll first like to say that tampons are not rocket science or any form of complicated technology. However, using a tampon for the first time ever is still as daunting, even if it’s not your first time on a period. After all, in my own situation, I knew all about getting my period and that it was going to come sooner or later. I eagerly anticipated it but that didn’t prepare me for the big tampon mind dialogue. I also couldn’t get adequate help because, everyone basically just tell you what works but not necessarily what will work best for you as a tampon starter.

There are so many things you must consider before buying and using a tampon, else, you’ll waste lots of tampons, money, feel a lot of pain and frustration, and still you’re getting nowhere. Things like type, size and usage matter in choosing a tampon from the store and not just popular brands or how beautiful the packaging looks. Moreover, these kinds of information are best from the horse’s mouth, to save you the stress and time of trying every product on the market, in order to find your perfect fit. That’s why I’ve taken the initiative in this article – wouldn’t you like some examples to get you started? Sure you would – don’t worry, I got you – every one of you!

So why tampons?

Well, as much as you’ll upgrade later in life to maybe a proper pad or a cup, tampons are great for a lot of reasons. It’s convenient, not so messy, and not as bulky as other traditional sanitary towels. Once you’ve figured out how to use correctly, you wouldn’t even notice it’s there – it’s quite discreet and that’s why it’s a preferred choice among young women.

What tampons do I recommend for tampon starters?

It is pertinent to reiterate that, here, I just provide recommendations to give you a head start, but nothing beats first-hand knowledge on what to look out for in a tampon as a starter. So, do yourself a great service and check out this article, as I have provided relevant information that should help you select the perfect tampon for all types of flow and every kind of occasion.

So for tampon starters, these are my five best recommendations.

  1. Tampax Pearl Lites – this is always the first on my list. It’s the ultimate starter go-to, easy to insert, great for light to moderate flow, super slender and comfortable. Although its absorbency is low, it should be no problem especially since you can change it every few hours.
  2. Playtex Gentle Glide 360` – this is equally a great choice. It’s sleek, easy to insert, great for light to medium flow, it’s surprisingly highly absorbent, while offering leak-free, super dry protection, and it’s also super comfortable. Unfortunately, it’s not very slender.
  3. U by Kotex Sleek Tampons – I always say that this is my personal favorite. They’re super sleek, offers the best insertion, great for heavy flow tampon starters, super absorbent – in fact the best, extremely comfortable – the placement will amaze you. More so, it’s 10 times more slender than other brands. I especially love that it comes with a beautiful fragrance and in different colors and designs.
  4. Seventh Generation Organic Cotton Tampons – quite pricey but great (health-wise). The main tampon material is made with hypoallergenic organic cotton, applicators are made of 95% plant based materials, no artificial fragrances, perfect for regular to heavy flow as well as those with sensitive parts.
  5. Tampax Cardboard Applicator Tampons (Regular) – they’re actually the most comfortable tampons and the best choice for environmentalists. Applicators are made of cardboard (although not everyone’s favorite) which are easily flushable down the toilet, insertion is seamless with an anti-slip grip, it comes with a ‘leakguard’ skirt that prevents leakage before it occurs, it equally comes with a ‘form-fit’ technology that adjusts to the size of your parts. It’s also amazingly affordable.

There you have it!
