Clogged pores are among the most common of skin conditions. They are also very often associated with, or the underlying root cause of, many other common skin conditions as well, including overly dry or oily skin, the development of blackheads and acne, and the presence of enlarged pores, among others.
There are several ways to know if your pores are clogged and the signs or symptoms of the clogged pores themselves often indicates the kind of remedies that are required for resolving the issue as well. Here are a few of the most common signs and the best ways to deal with your clogged pores if you experience or observe these symptoms.

Enlarged Pores
To determine if you have enlarged pores, look close up in a mirror or use a mirror that enlarges or amplifies your reflection, like powerful makeup mirrors, for example. Check out the size of your skin pores. If some seem more obvious than others, like those around and on your nose or on your forehead, just between your eyes, then you have clogged pores that need to be addressed.
Oil, dirt, dead skin cells, and other debris can cause your pores to get larger, as they are packed with stuff that should not be there. All that junk causes your pores to clog and expand, and must be removed in order for your skin cells to be healthy and your face to be properly nourished and hydrated by the beneficial oils your pores release.
To deal with this problem, you can use a clarifying solution or light skin cleanser that specifically designed for use on the face. Many such products are actually called pore cleansers or clarifiers, making it easy to choose the appropriate product to resolve the problem.
Blackheads
Blackheads occur when oil, sweat, and dirt get backed into your pores, clogging them and forming a dark colored pinpoint on the surface of the skin where the pore should be. To remove blackheads and unclog pores, one of the very best products available are pore clearing strips that are wetted, adhered to the area, allowed to dry, and then peeled off. When removed, these strips take the blackheads with them, effectively unclogging the pores.
Acne
Acne, while different from clogged pores, is often associated with pores that have been clogged and have also developed bacteria that has festered and resulted in skin sores or lesions that are known as acne. Acne-specific cleansers, creams, and other topical and oral medications, available over the counter or by prescription, are the best solutions for dealing with acne and addressing any clogged pores associated with the condition.
Excessively Dry Skin
Since your pores actually release beneficial skin oils, clogged pores can result in excessively dry skin. If you have excessively dry skin, you should, of course, use a good lightweight, non-oily, facial moisturizer. You may also want to use a pore clarifier or cleanser in addition to ensure your pores are clear and that your skin is healthier overall.
Excessively Oily Skin
Clogged pores in some areas of the face can cause other pores to overproduce oil in an effort to make up for the pores that are not functioning properly. This can cause overly oily skin in some areas of your face. To deal with this problem, use a pore cleaning solution or pore clarifying mask that will clean clogged pores and remove excess oils.
